Description

I went for a coffee to this place today, where my friend Audrey is renting for a few days to be near her son whilst she is under the weather. Well out of my league, but i thought you might like to see where some folk live. At least half the properties are unoccupied most of the time, either second homes or holiday lets. I believe they cost around £750,000 to buy. For me, money would have to buy space and privacy..neither of which are available here! Full size you can see the marker in the Google image. We were in the second house from the left in the top image.

You seem to be paying a lot for the view! I bet mooring is pricey too!

Nice pads! - Just like here without the Palm Trees, giant insects and man-eating Lizards!

Great captures, this is common in coastal villages and quays around the country, holiday lets or second homes... it's killing some locations because it's the domain of the rich and that represents the minority as opposed to the majority... it drives prices up for buyers and renters alike. Nothing wrong with having a bit of money sloshing around for retirement but many of those places are probably no owned by such people. Looks nice there but as you say you need own a boat and then you have it made there. Great shots.

Oh my, the high rent district! Cool pics of the boats and the wonderful Manors by the Sea, Andrea. And how much is £750,000, American dollarwise? Actually, if you chose to live there then you could interface with your rich neighbors. Noblesse oblige, you know. Of course, you wouldn't have a vast garden to tend to.

Oh dear, no. That doesn't appeal at all. I'll keep my $1.2 million (as soon as I get that much) and do something fun with it! :)

A terrific place to visit .. but I wouldn't like living there. I would much rather live in the country, but since we live in the city, I like our house, we have some space, and quite a bit of privacy, all things considered.

I can think of a lot of things that the money could buy and still have some left over. it is beautiful but I'll pass

A very pretty place. We have similar spots, each with private boat dock, up and down the east coast of the U.S. They flood really well during hurricane season.

I have found very often the wealthy do not have a clue about spending it wisely or enjoyably.

At least there are no cars beyond your back door, or is it the front door? That should be worth much. But many houses in one clod, so little private. But the place looks very nice on your photos, Andrea. The view of the water seems fantastic, if you live in this place.

It's lovely, but it seems the same as here: all the places on the water are fantastically overpriced and underoccupied. Still, it gives a person something to wish for, eh?

I am with you, I see comfort and privacy over status. Still a nice place for a holiday retreat.

A beautiful montage and I like the privacy of the little cove but way above my price range!
