Description
In the mid 1930's the wealthy, adventurous, and ne'er-do-wells traveled to exotic locals that the the "joe normal" working stiff could only watch and dream about in the movies. This scenario was some great fodder for movies during the 30' ,40's, and early 50's.
Douglas DC2: Wonderfully detailed and constructed model by Pedro Caparros, free at sharecg.
Local scenery, too numerous to mention, from just about everywhere. Thanks to all the creators.
Ford Tri-motor: somewhere on the internet, free model, acquired in the misty past.

As if the plane ride wasn't a grand adventure in itself.

Hi Bill...nice view of this raking off. Having it visually referenced to the ground like this is great..would even like to see it just off the runway. Hope all is well out your way.

Cool :-)

Perfect as usual. I like the local environment. It was with these twin-engine DC-2, and its competitors, Boeing 247 and Lockheed Electra when he began the era of routine and safe flights. Fly only thing it was not of the military, reporters from National Geographic, airmail pilots and adventurers like Indiana Jones. The world was already a theme park, for which they were indecently rich. And thanks for the mention

Well somebody has realised the potential of air travel.....you could land a B-52 on that runway :-) Brilliant image Bill, the gateway to a spiffing adventure, now where did I put my snake boots ? 10/10

Well Done Bill, always a pleasure to browse your gallery. Love the comp & scenery combination, the whole complements Pedro's beautiful DC-2.
