Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

This is a really exciting piece, nice and vibrant, I also like it because it does induce some hallucinatory experiences when viewing in detail. Well done.

Love the colors and patterns but it also reminds me of some of the accidents I had, in my youth, in chemistry classes! :>)

A wonderfully organic abstract .. the warm colors are beautiful. It's practically magic, I can see tiny little faces and little eyes peering out at me; I'm seeing this as a microscopic look at a spot on the floor of a forest where the sun shines through the trees ..

I'll be making more than one visit, this time around. But at last I got here to begin with! I start with this one 1) because it's for Ana, who's very dear to us. And 2) because I love the piece. It's the kind of abstract some of us associate with you, and which is great to see in your gallery whenever you post one. I can't imagine what it came from, but I love the cascading swaths, the move from dark red-rusts---on the right---to bright, light yellows and greens, on the left. And all those strata and cartographic lines around the edges. And the little "cells" throughout---those little pebbly shapes, those droplets that pepper the whole. (Those must have been something very specific in the original.) And the interlaced "under" layers...A real melange of emergence and submergence, and with the intelligent contrast and analytical lines that you do so well. Smashing, love that it came from a photo, and how it climaxes in rich saturated whites, yellows and greens. A wonderful piece for our dear friend, filled with lots of life. Beautiful art and dedi, Andrea.
