Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

That's substantial stuff! A great POV with the angles and brightly coloured as you say. It takes me back to my power station days! On shift work with small staff numbers they wanted volunteers to give cover for driving and other jobs and be trained up. I volunteered for them all and did them. Fire and rescue team, first aid, overhead cranes, fork truck, and as here mobile cranes. So in an emergency there was someone trained up for any eventuality! A week off shifts for every course too! It was a lot more fun than night shifts!

Nice detail. I'm still thinking some sort of sea creature brought up from the depths.

It's fascinating in photography how the mundane takes on a whole new perspective when captured in a certain way, I also like the other one too.

I do love me some big old rusty chains! What a great pop of colour you found here!

I like the FlickR photo because of the rusty textures and peeling paint BUT I also like the volume of chain on the RR side - even though all of that chain reminds me of some of the medieval weaponry. Also I do like the bright colors and chipping paint over here also!

Superb capture .. love the big heavy chain .. the colors .. the big equipment hiding behind - well whatever it's hiding behind. It's just a cool different perspective on an everyday sight on the docks.

I like this one but the Flicker one is good too.
