My name is Clive, resident in Cape Town, South Africa. I am an amateur photographer who has been enjoying the medium in a more serious manner since 2003.
I took a trip to the UK armed with a Minolta Maxxum 7000 that I had inherited from my Dad.
Out of the holiday snaps, I managed to get a few that I felt were quite good, but had no idea of how I managed to get them 'right'.
Since then I have done a couple of courses in the darkroom and joined a local photographic society where I was on the committee for a while.
Hopefully I am getting it 'right' more often these days.
I have a Minolta Maxxum 7 and being tied into the lens system, the Sony A100 DSLR was my introduction to the digital world. This has recently been upgraded to the Alpha SLT-A55 and I have to admit that I have shot more digital in the last five years than film!
My daughter Kristen (Kris10) and son Sean (fotoSean) have accounts here too, in the hope that they will learn too and share my passion! Sadly they have been rather quiet of late, much like their dad...
August 2015 marks the end of my 3 years as coordinator for the Photographic section of Renderosity. What a wonderful time of my life that I thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you all for the opportunity!
Keep the smile alive,
Clive

I agree with Mike statements. He accomplished wonders. What i do not like and disagree with is what his comrades is doing currently. They compare Madiba with Jesus and Moses which not one human being can do and the ANC even says that Madiba belongs to them.No one belongs to any human being or party. Yes we are created to the image of God.So we as human beings is his creation. He loves us and we belong to him. Madiba's body will be transported from Thaba Tswane to the Uniuon buildings for the following three days starting today. Everyone can honor him be being present allong the streets where they will pass with his body. It saddens me to say that a god has been made of Madiba and that he is being used for human gains by his closest friends. God bless.

Everyone wants to feel close to a great man, it is natural. So, to Christo, I would say give it time and the present wild adoration will be replaced by his most deserved legacy. And yes, others may undo some of what he accomplished but the people will carry his dreams forward because they are now the dreams of the people. A legacy takes a long time to reach its final destination.

A lovely capture of this memorial!

A nice tribute. His decision to forgive those who imprisoned him for so many years & seek reconciliation rather than revenge for the sake of his countrymen was an amazing historical pivot point & a truly heroic act...

Pres Barack Obama said it best in his tribute speech at Nelson Mandela's memorial service in Johannesburg: "It is hard to eulogize any man - to capture in words not just the facts and the dates that make a life, but the essential truth that make a person - their private joys and sorrows; the quiet moments and unique qualities that illuminate someone's soul. How must harder to do so for a giant of history, who moved a nation toward justice, and in the process moved billions around the world." Rest in Peace Tata. Lovely image and tribute to a "giant of history" Clive.
