Description
Happy Christmas to one and all at Renderosity! It's been a long time since I last posted but it just seemed right to do so now. I've been thinking about it for a while. As many will know I have posted a number of new pictures on my own web site in the interim and I have also recently started a YouTube channel for films I've been creating, some of which are animated. Anyway, it feels good to post again. I'll be posting more over the next few months.

Having you return here, Peter, is a real gift. (And having you like one of my little cartoons is a truly wonderful gift!) You've done so much wonderful work on the web. This scene has all your mastery, your subtlety, your sensitivity and heart, and all your disciplines which, from a lifetime of work, have blended into your vision with absolute invisibility---they're there, but all we feel is the true heart and vision. I love your bow to atmosphere, how you let it dissolve the whole image into a mist of a snowy Christmas night. The background homes with the smoke are as much spirits as actual homes. It's a typically white-gray-sepia-like winter eve, but it has wonderful color from within. Your human figures are almost stately, reminiscent of La Grande Jatte---they waft and remain upright, there's a gentle civility about them, a fairy tale feeling. They're also in beautiful contrast to the (lighter) snow. The lights are gingerly placed, but they're little jewels as a result; and the whole scene seems lit by a huge generous source somewhere beyond the image...It's inviting, gentle, graced with winter (rather than oppressed by it), feeling of a gentler age, quiet and symphonic. You're one of our masters, and I've always learned a world from your work. Thanks for uploading again; and I wish you and your loved ones a love-filled and grace filled holiday, and beautiful new year.
