Description
As promised yesterday, a photo of one of the Western Scrub Jays that frequent our bird feeder. During the current cold spell, they & the rest of the birds have really been going through the seeds in our feeder at a furious pace. I think that's because they need more to maintain their body heat & also because other sources of food are harder to come by at this time of year...
Please zoom.

xlt shot, like the highlight in his/her eyes

IMHO suggest crop the upper branch

Just cropping it would leave too narrow a space above the bird's head. I could use one of the healing brushes to clone the background upwards, but didn't think it was necessary.

I'm not familiar with this species, he's quite pretty! I know what you mean about the seeds as we have had -20 °C weather for a couple of weeks and I just had to go out and buy two more 20 lb. sacks of black sunflower seeds and three packages of suet.

Lovely colours and a very detailed photo, well worth the zoom

What an excellent shot! I haven't seen any of these around here, only the Steller's kind. But yes, my feeders are a frenzy of activity all day long too!

I love the streak of snow on the side of the jay's head that looks like a white eyebrow. Perhaps it is just a very elderly scrub jay. Very nice capture and finish!

That's not snow - it's a characteristic white marking on Western Scrub Jays that resembles an eyebrow.

A great shot of the beautiful little bird!

Wonderful shot out feeder and suet holder are the main attractions here

Oh man, I'm absolutely drooling over the amount of detail you're getting with your new camera! Wow. That's fabulous!

Looks much smaller than the Steller's jay.

Excellent photo. It does not need croping.

Lovely Jay and capture. S/he is all puffed up against the cold.
