My Christmas tree from cyberspace, with a few added touches this time. I have to admit, I borrowed some inspiration from 'Doctor Who' artwork seen in magazines over the years. And of coarse, the Doctor had a tradition of materializing the TARDIS in places only observed by a herd of cows, a sleepy dog, a very surprised duck or even a single watchful crow. Little Simon is in good company I'd say. The long running BBC series 'Doctor Who' was and is a breed apart from the wordy, dreary all too often Victorian centred BBC drama imports - I'm Canadian so they're imports. 'Doctor Who' was and is rebellion against the authority of stuffy literature. 'Doctor Who' was and is rebellion against the authority of stuffy culture. 'Doctor Who' was and is the underdog of creativity which even the might of Margret Thatcher could not silence forever - one infamous villain from the McCoy era was an authoritarian head of state named 'Rehctaht'. And it was and is the sweet revenge of making our parents sit through a Who adventure, to them a worse form of molasses than the forced feeding of 'Brideshead Revisited' was to us. What a downward spiral of joy that programme was - dear God Sebastian, quit drinking so Jeremy Irons can just cheer up! I am, like so many on this site, a life long fan of 'Doctor Who'. I began watching the show regularly on TVOntario (CICA in those days) at 7pm on Saturday nights - an hour before NHL Hockey on the CBC. At that time TVO had been airing the early Tom Baker serials and I happened one night to come upon Part One of 'Genesis Of The Daleks', widely regarded as the best serial of the "classic era". Holly serendipity, you might say they had me at, "EXTERMINATE!". From then began my loyal viewership of this quirky and still unique adventure series with Tom Baker becoming, as a fan would say, "my Doctor". So as you can imagine, it was a great thrill to see Tom Baker's cameo appearance at the end of 'The Day Of The Doctor'. The scene was surprising given that Baker is not known for sharing the stage with other Doctors. Yes, he was always proprietary about his personification of the character - diva accusations abound. But he never sought to upstage other Doctors either - that seemed to be a big no-no to him. Still, in this last case Baker was "the Curator" and not the Doctor opposite Matt Smith. Then again... Who knows? As for 'The Day Of The Doctor' it will take time to establish if it should be regarded as a true classic. I certainly enjoyed it as a reunion special. It answers many questions about the Doctor's recent history and the Time War. And I really enjoyed John Hurt's take on the Doctor which was as much fun as it was troubled by what he felt he had to do. And, like all good anniversary episodes, it is a turning point for the series. Gallifrey is now merely lost not destroyed. And now the Doctor has hope as opposed to the despair and regret the character has been carrying since the series renewal in 2005.
My thanks to Becco_UK for the TARDIS prop. And Simon is a DAZ Millennium Siamese Cat. Thank you for viewing and happy holidays to everyone.

This is simply stunning work Clayton, and a delight to all Doctor Who fans. Banner work on the setting as well as those super cool special effects. I'm going to make sure that Lucinda sees this presentation as she also love the good Doctor.

Hello Doctor! Can I go somewhere and somewhen with you? Wonderful image! Simon looks just as I would expect a cat to look on hearing and seeing the TARDIS appear out of nowhere. Surprise, caution, curiosity, and a readiness to spring and flee. I love the lighting, composition, and perspective. Simon though partially lit, is still partly in the shadow, looking out. That, and the green light coming from the heavens, give this an exciting and magical atmosphere. I like Simon against the purple tree too. Excellent lighting on the Christmas tree, shining on and through the branches. And of course a TARDIS makes any scene more interesting. Very beautiful image. That's funny about the villain Rehctaht. I was in England when Margaret Thatcher resigned. I remember the justified outrage about the pole tax (It brought about pretty severe financial strain on one of my neighbors) and the speed by which Thatcher was gone. It was very strange for me, not used to the British system. I really love this, both the image and narrative. Tom Baker was 'my doctor' too. It was great seeing him on 'The Day Of The Doctor' I thoroughly enjoyed the show. John Hurt was terrific.
