Description

'In Ark' was a challenge, and ya'll know those are my favorite kinds of projects. I love pushing my own skills whenever possible. Lisa wanted a cover that conveyed an Art Deco style in a futuristic environment. She told me "Think Metropolis (the film)." Tasked with portraying her story showing wind turbine energy, harsh environmental conditions, and an even harsher society. Each element, from the color scheme, to the attire, to the pose of the character; all designed to offer clues about the story while keeping the over-all design clean and uncluttered. I wanted to say a lot using only three elements. The character, the window, and the visual seen through the window are all I had to work with while giving the reader a glimpse into the story. blurb: ~ Mya Brand is in a race against climate change, as she tries to digitally archive the life stories of humanity before it's too late. Living in New York City in the year 2030, her daily survival is fraught with hardships of obtaining food and maintaining basic essentials. She struggles on, until one day she is abducted by an eco-survivalist community that promises her that her dream of preserving the human stories of civilization dreams will come true. But paradise is not the utopia that it seems. ~ 'In Ark' is scheduled for eBook release in April 2014. Stay tuned for updates and hopefully an interview with Lisa Devaney. :D Last upload: thumb_2491188.jpg More info available on my website: WillowRaven *Psst ... The texturing on the grey wall really impresses me, but I think the scene outside the window could perhaps be improved on a little. The ground seems to 'slant' up a bit much. I'd angle it down and show more of the sky. Also how about a couple objects in the otherwise somewhat bare interior, say maybe a hanging lamp or a rug. But maybe it's just me. Good to know you enjoy the challenge of your work. Happy new year!

I like the outfit that you designed for Mya and also very impressed with the fantastic window. The dead grass in the windmill farm is also a strong statement in itself. An eye catcher for sure!
