Description

Captured 12/14/13, facing east very early in the morning, when entering a market parking lot within the vast perimeter of the neighborhood. This is all that it's cracked up to be. Better detail via ZOOM. Ciao.

That's a truly excellent photograph. Great light, interesting textures, and the leaves as punctuation marks works really well. A fine job!

Go east, young man...I love the out-of-frame brightness of the sun throwing all the cracks (and those leaves) into bright relief. A very well done capture, Harry!

I jumped when this went up, I just love it. That roadway into a parking lot---it looks like an aerial view of the desert. I mean, one wouldn't see that arrow in an aerial view, but the textures are wonderful. The whole surface is wonderful, with detail on the cracks, that early morning light, the light intensifying as we go back (and the sun only hinting that it's there in the back), and the occasional leaves---in full sharpness---and the stones in front. The cracks almost seem to have been there ages, like the desert. And the arrow is just so melded into the whole, even as it's so bold. This is so total, it's just what it is and it's so total: I have tried these shots, Harry, and I've tried them many times, and they die in the camera. I mean they're D.O.A. before I get them into my freakin' computer. They're so much harder than they seem; yet you do them over and over, and they're whole living environments in your hands. A terrific shot, it makes me look at things around me in whole new ways. Love this shot. (And then you follow up with those beautiful flower shots, showing us your range...)

More evidence of your mastery with light, Harry. These cracks are pretty impressive, and make a good case for leaving parking lots to the ravages of time and weather. They have a bit of a reptilian appearance. Impressive as they are, they are made even more so by your wonderful use of light. The parking lot is luminous, its skin a mass of fascinating patterns on shining gold, with a pearlescent arrow showing the way forward. And it's a parking lot! A PARKING LOT! It has the look of a divine message, and it is saying this way to meat and produce. Really beautiful and outstanding shot, Harry. I love it!
