JuliSonne has recently posted images of Berlin and was lamenting there was no snow in her city for Christmas this year. So I commented that she was welcome to some of ours. We have now about 2.5 ft - 75 cm - and very cold winter in my city.
This was from a Festival of Light taken in my river valley. Various scenes were set up and the colors of the lights changed every few minutes making it a photographers delight to practice night photo shoots. This lantern was a lot of fun for photogeeks like me because it showed difference between flat looking snow in middle distance from frontlit lighting and really sparkly textured snow up front from backlit lighting.
Do not get me wrong, about cold and snow, I love the winter. The beautiful structure of the snow and being able to ski almost from my front door can make it a fun season. But you have to be a bit tough to enjoy it; otherwise it is just misery.

Wonderful shot,light-snow and a good photographer is always a great mix:-)))) Really beautiful photo Roxy :-)) I like the beauties of winter time But there's a lot of problem in this world,and harsh winter conditions are always brings suffering to a lot of people and the animals!getting harder for me being happy front of the hot stove and and cup of a nice coffee or tea,when I'm thinking about the poor peoples homeless peoples and,children and of course hunger street animals!But nevertheless Nature is always a greatest artist for me :-)))I want to wish to you and your loved ones a happy holidays and a healthy and happy new year my dear friend,Take care :-))))))

WOW .... WOW ..... WOW .... that is sooo COOL!!!!! So I imagine also a winter before smile A very nice event to do so. I wish I had been there. The cold does not bother me. I've always getting shiny from seeing eyes happy Roxy, this is such a loving picture with small lantern in deep snow. As she throws her charming light. And the beautiful different shades of light. It is a feast for the eyes ..... this is a really nice Xmas present for me ..... THANK YOU, my dear friend I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! ** Sorry, because I see the image until now.
