Description

We had a bit of snow yesterday, and early this morning. It only amounted to about 4 inches at most, but it's cooooold! Nevertheless, I couldn't resist the temptation to take the Phantom up and get a few photos. I didn't try to go too high as there was a bit of breeze, and this was only my second flight. Anyway, here's my house from about 75 feet up. You can see me in front of the garage, and Jo is standing on the porch shaking her head at her nutty husband out flying a quadcopter in freeze-your-bippy-off temperatures. You can see my "heliport" in the driveway. It's just a piece of foam insulation. When I landed, the downwash from the props kept blowing it and moving it around slightly. I took her up for a short video flight, and the landing was rather funny - I'll see if I can post the video to You Tube later today. Hope everyone is staying warm, and enjoying the weekend! As always, thanks for dropping by, and for all your great comments!

Very cool photo Rod, and it appears you got the storm that went just to the north of us. I know when it was first passing through the Joplin area the other day that fog was so thick you could barely see 1/4 mile in front of you. I really like the little heliport you have setup in the driveway, but now you need to add some lights to it (They might help weigh it down also) lol ;)

What an awesome idea. Bet it gives you a whole new view of you neighborhood.I can see all sorts of professional uses for this device, like flying up to the top of a steep scramble to see if it is worth climbing up for. Can you view the pictures in live time?

Hi Jo! Hi Rod! waves How y'all doin'? I'm happy to see your house in the snow from the air, as opposed to trying to drive over there in that stuff! :P It's 58 and sunny with a good stiff breeze here at Lackland this afternoon. So far nobody has made us march anywhere! LOL! :)

Wow, Rod...this adds a completely new dimension to your life. I know that sounds rather dramatic but who else in your neighborhood can step out and send a camera straight up 75' or more? Cool shot...good to see you both!
