“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

I have been to SA many times but only seen the Alamo. next trip I will seek out these other missions. there is one very interesting to the East of SA, but I was not able to visit as the time was not during visiting hours.(Goliad,TX)

ZOOM is a must on this one. The lines and colors pop in full view in a way they don't on the gallery image. Fantastic photography!

Wow! It's so beautiful...I don't know why this kind of architecture resonates so with me, but my eyes could run over those stones for hours. Truly excellent capture!

Great detail on the old stone textures & I also like the way the trees frame the architecture (especially the one on the left)...

This reminds me of Mission Dolores, Carmel, California. The mission furthest north is the one on Mission Street, San Francisco. However, it's squezed in between a lot of houses. The one in Carmel is surrounded by trees and bushes. It's got cloisters and is quite large. IF you get around to it, I suggest visiting it. There's a lot of good camera angles! WIshing you and Tara a Merry Christ-mas and a Happy New Year! :-)

This is a great shot, Bill! Jo and I got married in San Antonio while I was stationed at Randolph AFB. We did see the Alamo, but I must have left my brain at home - I don't think I took a single photo. We'll have to go back there sometime, and seek out these other missions..

Perfect depth and POV employed in this fine foto, Bill.

Beautiful capture with wonderful colors and detail. I love the rich color of the door and the golden tones of the Mission. That was such a fun day! Happy holidays to you and Tara (and Mandy)! I hope you are having a joyful day!

I had no idea these were a National Park! (Impressive!) Bill, this is gorgeous, and so typical of what you do that I can't freakin' describe. Because it's all wrapped up in impeccable proportions, and other un-nameables that are so clear to me but so hard to name. The composition is broad but intimate, long but somehow 'close'. (You know that "cloister" comes from the same root as "close"? Ie, a close, en-close-d space...) ("Closet" too...) The center tree is lined with the tower, both with dark accents; and the mission just spreads out from there (the tower & tree being close to center). The big tropical tree on the left grows perfect out of the Mission's left-most wall---our left, that is. There are trees framing both sides, but a big open space in between. And such a dramatic gray-blue sky for such a dramatic little building. It looks almost like a ruin...Beautiful textures, i's just beautiful, with detail, softness, simplicity and yet it's very whole. A very fine shot. You're really getting poetry out of that camera. (I'm getting close to getting one. I hope I can get pieces this gentle and loving...)
