I am going to go out on a limb and say that this is an example of why you should always shoot in RAW. I am sure that the detail you brought out postwork, especially the recovery of the blown out sky, comes from working with light and white and contrast with a tug of vibrance too.

Hi brewgirlca, I always shoot in Raw. There is no reason not to save all the information from the sensor. I use the highlight, shadow, white point and black point to obtain a start. Image Rarely is the HDR technique necessary because there is so much info is in a raw. Where you then end depends on your vision. Regards, Raymond
