Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Great capture and cool postwork. I'm guessing that a severe storm came through...

It's a wonder that it is still almost in one piece!

This reminds me of a Japanese brolly I saw once that was supposed to be resistant to turning inside out had these little vents at the top, but it leaked LOL! Talk about ash trays on motor bikes or chocolate fireguards etc. Excellent fiddles brolly shot.

That's a great capture and post work. A symbol of the heavy winds and flooding the country has experienced, my thoughts are with those who lost power over the xmas period and some not even having gas to fall back on... guess electric only households should get a few camping lamps and stoves in just to be safe... they would pay for themselves in one such event.

WONDERFUL WORK

Broken and forlorn hinting, perhaps, at a larger tragedy. Excellent post work and use of selective color.

Blimey, a busted brolley! Cool capture of the now departed protector from precipitation, Andrea. I detect a bit of digifiddling in the image. And, I've read of newer umbrellas that have flap openings in them which permit wind to pass through, avoiding the premature cataclysmic collapse of the brolley in high winds.

Very cool selective coloring and I like the 'blue mood'!

A nice bit of postwork on this shot Andrea,we only lost power for eight hours and being all electric we were glad to have the caravan to boil the kettle in,the house is well insulated so it didn't get cold, It was mainly at night and the outdoor temp was about 10deg .
