Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Ralph of Arabia His tribute to O'Toole?

Oh no... poor little guy! Sometimes I'm so surprised at home smart these animals can be... they know how to be protective when need be, and know how to ask for help when they need it. He does look very comfortable though.... he's a beauty, dear Andrea! Sometimes it's hard to resist giving them a little treat... and I was taken aback one day when I learned how many foods are actually poison to our best friends... including avocados... I'm really glad he's okay now though!

Poor ole ralph, a little bit too rich in the food department, we all like to treat our pets now and then.. I guess they can be pretty much like us when we get the wrong end of xmas. At least he woke you okay rather than in the morning stepping into more than a post yule log. Glad he is feeling more comfortable now. A nice capture of him there.

AWWWWWWWWWW! We had lobster and prawns for Xmas and my boy Bob LOVED them! I always give him something when I go fishing, so he has a real taste for fish! I cooked him a plate of fresh chicken (which is his fave) and sprinkled some prawns around the top and through it. He proceeded to pull all the chicken out to get at the prawns. Then he realised what he had done and gulped the chicken down too.

POOR LAD

The old man in winter. He looks like he could have just risen from his rocking chair. I guess we all forget that, as we age, we can't party like we used to. A fine capture. The eyes make him look a little supernatural.

He does look a bit put out. But I'm glad he's doing better.

Whatever medication you gave poor Ralphie has resulted in him developing moon images as eye pupils. Some might even say the eyes of a demon.
danapommet
He does look distressed!

OH! Poor thing. I hope he will be well soon. He seem to have a cozy time on the photo, dispite... :)

Oh poor Dear Ralphie! Fatty treats can play all kinds of havoc with our pup's gastrointestinal tracts, from simple diarrhea and/or vomiting, or worse, to attacks of pancreatitis. Sigh. But he looks so cozy and content under the warm throw! Little Leya gets very close to the wood burning stove for heat when it's on, snuggles with which ever us is sitting, she will crawl under the blankets during the night, and get close to the baseboard heat! She knows how to be warm.
