Description
Test run of my Italian desert uniform, with Papus3D releasing a Sahariana recce truck, I just felt the need for some more desert gear. Very much a work in progress, except for the pith helmet & the boots, no textures or UVs yet. The sahariana shirt still needs a bit of work on the bottom pockets, my model is based on a late 30s pre war shirt. He's wearing desert breeches & long puttees. I'm still working on the field cap & webbing but this gives you an idea what will be coming out for the M4. The feathers on the helmet are specific to the Bersaglieri, one of the toughest Italian units in the desert. Some purists might think that these wouldn't be worn in the desert, but the Bersaglieri wore the item with such panache & eland, representative of the unit's esprit de corps. Those of you who have tested my gear will be happy to know that these are for the M4, & shoulld be available for testing soon. Thanks for looking

Thanks Ken, I do try to please. Not your typical WWII soldier, but then again, I like a bit of variation in my renders, so the Italian Army seemed like the next logical step to go with the Desert Rats. The bersaglieri because they were some kick ass light mounted infantry in a much maligned Italian army. Very much an elite force, and although ill equipped, was a well led & motivated unit. They fought with distinction both in North Africa & Russia.

What? Italians? Yeah.... Great.... Yeah... the Bersaglieri are still an active part of Italian Army and are still wearing the feathers on the helmet. So far as I know the uniforms are the same. You can leave the feathers and you have a regular Italian soldier. With one model you can make two different uniforms (with different batches and so on). I am curious to see how it progresses.

Thanks Alice, along with the Ariete (Armour) & the Folgore (Paras), the Bersaglieri are some of the best troops fielded by the Italian army in WWII. But, I was always fascinated by the Bersaglieri which is one of the best light infantry units around even today. I've seen pictures of Bersaglieri wearing modern desert fatigues with plumed fritz helmets.

You know, great minds think alike. When I saw Papus3d's "Italian Jeep," I thought of you and was going to ask you to consider doing some Italian WWII desert uniforms. How about that? Looks good--more than good, actually. Is this an officer's uniform or enlisted? Would be nice to have both eventually. Thanks for making it for M4. FYI: I've still got one file that you sent me to download. Apparently the problem was that the site wanted be to download and use their downloader instead of my own. Will try to get the last one downloaded today.

Hiya Jer!, What can I say, a North African campaign without Italian troops.... Pfui! As to answer your question, by 41-42, the insignia would determine whether its an Off or EN, as soldier being soldiers, even officers would use less flashy gear, but officers would wear brown leather knee length boots, so this is an EN, but, with a change of foot wear & proper insignia with a sam browne type belt it would easily make an officer , also in the project box.
