I thought I would slip this one in before the end of the year. It's a scene from last summer that I forgot to post (er, render): the Hillville High School class of '83 thirty year reunion party! Here are four BFFs, Helen, Didi, Haruka, and Eva. Back in the day, they weren't the apex of the popularity food chain, but they were definitely closer to the top than to the bottom. So, here's the answer to the first, perhaps only, question asked at a class reunion: "What do you do?" HELEN (choir, chess club) now works for the city government, which means that, like a lot of people, she ultimately answers to Miss Strong. DIDI (cheerleading, home ec. club) is one of the lunch ladies at Hays Middle School. Contemplate that for a moment. Claire's mom. HARUKA (cheerleading, science club, gymnastics) is living the "Kotter" life as Hillville High's school nurse. Still wearing a lot of purple. Naomi's mom. EVA (orchestra, Spanish club, cross country) was a secretary until men learned how to type. Now, she's an administrative assistant. Fawn's mom. Now, some juicy gossip from the party... Some of the other women at the party thought that Eva's dress was a bit inappropriate for someone in her late forties, and they had a bit of "Schadenfreude" that her profound pallor has led her a little farther along the wrinkle road than others. The men, on the other hand, were only interested in... Eva's statement that she had been "divorced for a REALLY long time now." Hmm. So that's it. Thanks for viewing, reading, and commenting.
