Description

Ralph and Doris at the Rest Home this week. Doris is 104 and now sadly totally blind, although still with an excellent mind. She very much misses Buster who on every visit lay on her knees for the whole hour. Ralph does his best, but is no substirute. Doris strokes him but her arms get tired reaching across. Fritz is too busy planning his next food search to keep still, and Rosie is a bit of a fidget, although she did manage 10 minutes on her knee this time. Doris attributes her long life to never worrying. She exhibits a combinatiion of stoicism and pragmatism. A lesson for us all.

A delightful capture and what an impressive age... Ralph does indeed look relaxed... I guess Buster was always going to be missed at the rest home, he was just the right size for laps and appeared very tolerant to remain put.... I'm sure he is around there in spirit.

Good pic reflecting the moment, A. Well, Ralphie did his best to inspire and stimulate Doris, but it appears to be have been to no avail, as she sits stoically in complete indifference to the activity around her.

Poor Ralph. It must be hard to cuddle with someone so big. As for tired arms, I would suggest moving the chairs closer to each other. A beautiful image full of emotion.

I'm sure a lot of people miss Buster. There's a lot to be said for a calm and patient dog!

I try that, but end up worrying the life out of myself. And there it is in text after writing this I notice the term "Worrying the life out of"

One day at a time, one problem at a time. No point in worrying about tomorrow and it's problems, worrying pretty much saps you of energy that could just as well be put to use drawing, or walking with the dogs and taking pictures, or any of myriad of wonderful things to do. This is a wonderful picture. Doris looks a wee bit tired from reaching to pet Ralphie, and Ralphie looks like he's missing the petting. Yes, move the chairs closer together as Ralphie looks to be a bit big for Doris' lap, LOL

I do miss Buster too! Maybe Ralphie should lay his head on her lap, since he's probably too big to lie his whole self there. O r maybe there's a sofa she could sit on and he could lie next to her.
