Description
Red-tailed hawks are common sights in flight around here, but I've rarely spotted them at rest & never been able to photograph one before. I spotted this one while on a walking path, near the top of a fairly tall tree. The light & background weren't ideal & I only had about 30 seconds before it flew off, so this was the best I could do. If not for my new high powered zoom & the fact that I was shooting in RAW, I don't think I would have gotten a usable result at all...

Excellent capture. YOu have to get shots like this whenever you can. There is no staging them.

I see them around here a lot, usually when I'm driving, of course. Good capture under the circumstances!
