Description
This is the entrance to a ranch that I've passed on the road several times every week for many years. No idea who lives here, but I've always thought about taking a photo of it & finally got around to it. This in no way represents my views on religion - I neither endorse it nor condemn it. I have no problem with anyone displaying something like this on their property (or any other point of view, as long as it's not hateful), though I don't think it belongs on every piece of U.S. currency & coin...

A lovely welcome.

A nice looking place! I agree with your thoughts, the religious logo does not belong on US currency unless the US is prepared to abandon the concept of separation of church and state. But they would need to do a lot more than drop it from the currency. On my side of the border we don't have religious ideas on our coinage but we have Queen Elizabeth II on every piece. I have respect for her and the British heritage, but why continue with it? On the other hand, I shudder to think what they would replace it with, probably images of various Governor-Generals, probably the worst assemblage of undeserving, wealthy-bred and puppet dandies Canada has ever known!

...and all others will pay cash! great capture I'm all for the freedom to believe in the religion that one believes in, however I do not need it shoved down MY or my family's throat.

Yeah, well, to each their own. I won't be going up and knocking on their door to see if, by some chance, my new best friends live there! LOL!

I agree. This does make for an excellent photo, though. You caught the light very well, certainly a bonus! :-)

While I always view full-view, I need to say that some full views just transform one's shot. (Display views aren't only smaller in dimensions, here, they're smaller in resolution. I wish RR would institute full-view all the time.) Anyway, in full view, this intensifies considerably: The deep blue shadows become enveloping, and your sense of intense detail becomes almost cradling, as it encroaches us in all that restful shadow. And you have blue in the road and blue in the fence. It's really a lot of blue pulling us back into the ranch. I've noticed with other of your photos, how you do light-dark contrasts extremely well: Ie, sections of strong sun next to sections of strong shadow (the dried lakebed shots are two examples). And I like the gold specks on the road too (leaves or stones, I assume), as they give light to the dark shadows. A very inviting shot, with lots of shadow in the middle of a very bright day. I'm ok with religious matter on personal property, but also not a fan of it on public currency or spaces. I guess this sign is no different than a resident having a crucifix on their doorstep, or a statue of christ on their lawn. From the standpoint of your image, the motto becomes part of the whole, though---blue, metallic, and reflecting light in spots. It only adds to the interest of the shot...

I like it when someone displays something like this. I agree with you that, as Americans, tasteful displays like this are fine as long as it is not thrown in my face!
