Description
this are very busy freight line tracks and Amtrak uses the same rails passing by at 60-70 miles per hour. years ago I posted a view of the rails and how they are not very straight from all the heavy freight trains. there is a transfer yard for new pickups and cars. hundreds pass through each week. almost as fast as they are unloaded, they leave on transport trucks to the dealers 24 hours a day

look at full screen the upper right hand corner at the crooked tracks. it is a side line but the main rails that the train is on is the same way

I love the sound of trains and all that power my great grandfather worked on drove one of these in his day and i still have his original cap he wore back then just never got to meet him but have the old photos of him.

Conrail was bought out by Norfolk & Southern many years ago to my knowledge, but I used to work on trains just like that my friend, so you know this brings back many memories Richard, thanks for posting this. Stan

it verges on criminality how the infrastructure of the US has been allowed to deteriorate...if one travels to other industrialized countries one would be shocked to see how clean and technologically advanced they are compared to the US...but i guess, it will only get worse as long as folks aren't aware of the true situation. the politicians keep spouting how the US is the greatest country in the world...not too sure this still holds--yes, once it really was the best in the world, but now? the numbers say otherwise, and so do my old lying eyes...get the crooks out of DC who refuse to fund infrastructure repair in the US...will it take for one of their own to be killed in a bridge collapse, etc. that forces them to take action? anyway, thanks Richard for this capture..

as an aside to my above comment: all our railways should be top notch so all long distance haulage can done by rail...get those 18-wheelers off the roads...train haulage is far more efficient...use trucks for short distance haulage only.

Very cool capture! Goldie brought up some very valid points - if there is any hope of getting back to being number one, we have to be able to transfer goods from points A,B,C and so on we can't do that if the transport system is broken

Down here.. it is probably an earthquake or two that puts wrinkle in the tracks!... but earth moves, especially with 500 tons of train rolling over, so there is a bit of creep over time. Awesome photo Richard, and three loco's.. must be a heavy train or there are some serious inclines around the area!
