Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I think there is a lot of beauty and wisdom in this lovely portrait. I don't read Vogue anyway!!!

Lovely portrait, and somebody should remind that editor that she will be over forty in no time and Is she going to leave the magazine then.

"Age is just a question of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." ~ Mae West What a wonderful face. A fabulous portrait. I second the opinion. A random list of actresses over 60: Jane Seymour 1951 Raquel Welch 1940 Susan Sarandon 1946 Jacqueline Bisset 1944 Sophia Loren 1934 Helen Mirren 1945 Catherine Deneuve 1943 Meryl Streep 1949 So none of these women will ever be in Vogue? The editor sounds like a proper twit.

She's got spirit and spunk! I like her! I bet she was a blast to talk to

WONDERFUL WORK

What do you call a person who is anti age? An ageist? I don't know, it's possibly a rhetorical question. The editor should be drummed out of the magazine corps. In any event, a sterling portrait revealing great tones and textures in this young lady's face, Andrea. She's probably shouting, "get that bloody Tizzy out of my face!"

She looks like fun! A lovely portrait!

Looks a little like Doris Hare of on the buses fame. A delightful face that can tell a thousand stories.

I cannot even imagine what damage these young models are doing to their bodies in trying to stay so emaciated looking. Personally, I think they look freakish walking skeletons covered with a layer of skin. The editor of vogue is already past her prime (she was born nov. 1949) and wonder why she is still even allowed to represent a magazine dedicated to the skeletonish young. Now THIS is a beautiful face!

This is a real portrait of a real person, not some fantasy image post worked to death by some magazine until it fits their ideal's of what is in style today... people are people.. all ages all sizes, colours and creeds etc.... give me a portrait shot like this any day. This lady has wonderful character and you have captured this perfectly.

I agree with you Andrea. Amazing capture. God bless.

I like that she was looking at the camera and people in our age bracket have more character on their faces! The mono version in not an complementary as the color version - in my humble opinion!
