Description
Oh my god! I never want to prepare a model for Zbrush again! Argh! I spend my entire sunday in front of the computer working and reworking the mesh to get it ready for painting in Zbrush. Though I may export the model to Unfold3d to redo the UV --not really confident in Zbrush UVs, but I'm gonna try it this week.
Going from one application back to another and back and forth is enough to drive a person crazy. There were half a dozen times when I thought I might give up, but I really didn't want that to happen. I've really put a lot of effort into this models and I'm not keen on the idea of putting it on the shelf again.
I can say this -taking your model into Zbrush requires a lot of attention to detail. there were a lot of times when I would subdivide the mesh only to find a problem I didn't see, and then I'd have to go back and fix it and try again. If you ever get the message from Z:
"This mesh contains nonstandard polygons( more than 4 sides) Would you like to split these polygons to sets of symmetrical triangles or to a combination of quads and triangles? Quads and triangles (compatible with Z2) OR Symmetrical triangles only?"
Stop right there and go back and fix your mesh. There's something wrong with it if you see that message pop up. I had to do it three or four times because I missed something. It's been a learning experience, let me tell you. Anyway, he's ready to paint but I'm going to wait for Unfold3d to get here before I do the painting in spotlight. Zbrush is really great for painting but I hate it for UVing.
