That expression definitely has some serious intent behind it. A dramatic capture & it's nicely framed as well...

What a great pic! This is definitely a portrait to be taken with a bit of zoom...he probably wouldn't take kindly to being shown with a big nose!

Sorry if I upset you with my comment, I was only trying to be constructive in a helpful way. I know how sensitive ladies can be about their portraits catching them in the best possible way!

"A bit of zoom, Durley? Believe the only really safe way to photo this boy would be from orbit. We have a sanctuary near us with 5 or 6 full prides. In the evening, listening to the males sound off is more than impressive. Nice shot!

Brill shot - weird to see a lion in front of trees in a N European winter.

It's all in the intent to frighten, that's cat behaviour--try and look big and mean and maybe the other guy will run away and you won't have to exert yourself backing up your threat. I love his velvety coat. Excellent capture, and I can't imagine seeing that many lions all together. The sounds at dawn and dusk must be something to hear!

Superb capture my friend. Just two days ago there was an article in a afrikaans newspaper Beeld about irresponsible human behavior by two kids hanging their heads out of a car window with a male and female lion lying just meters from them on a tar road in the Kruger National Park. The male lion roared at them. Both the male and female lion then stood up and walked away. It could have ended up another way. what if the male Lion approached the kids and grabbed them from the vehicle. So i can go on. There is lots of irresponsible behavior going on in the Kruger National Park.A month ago a vehicle was destroyed by an elephant bull. Both passenger and driver escaped the ordeal. The Bull had to be killed by park rangers. I saw this incident on a video clip. From the moment i watched the beginning of the clip I felt in my mind that those people was looking for trouble. On the end Nature had to pay the price because of Humans that cannot behave and think for themselves.God bless.

"The Bull had to be killed by park rangers." What a piece of work man" If the dozy idiots escaped, then why kill the animal? He didn't ask to be an exhibit. I say empty all national parks and zoos and destroy them. This is a great shot mate, it "soothes the savage breast" as the story goes after my outward rant, although there is no music involved :D
