Most interesting! The authorities seem frightened to let nature loose in your area!

They take such a wonderful shape as they dehydrate and decay; wonderful find, and excellent captures, Harry!

This is scintillating not only for the shapes and lights in each shot, but for the strong contrasts between both shots---even though they're just different angles of the same sight. The bottom one has such a different feel, with the light coming from almost behind you: The stumps are a dark greenish-tan, like sculptures made w/ dark olive wood. Age and mass dominate, there. Whereas the same stumps, in no. 1, show more lines and much more light. There, it seems almost like driftwood---wonderful contrast in the two views. Also, the tree itself is thicker and more frontal, in your bottom shot, with a seam and a "v" perfectly placed at the peak of one stump (nice composition, Harry); whereas, in the top shot, the trunk is in a side-posture. And you have more of that light---bleached, intense, with tans and golds mixed in. And this is definitely winter, as the burnt hues and dried leaves attest. This is about bare-bones, in a way, nature brought down to its purest forms. Again, you've singled out a simple 'event'---a tree with two stumps, contained in a small space in your neighborhood---and shown that it creates its own universe. And you brought it to life with light-shadow work, pov's, and your inimitable early morning light. As Hendesse says, two superb shots.
