Description

The first of my small collection of Cymbidiums to flower this year. They all need repotting: i am waiting for a delivery of Orchid compost to start. Each one will be done once I cut the blooms, which last very much longer in water than on the plant.

Lovely flowers... there are so many different orchids... some extremely rare.. there is an illegal trade in the rarest one's and they fetch a pretty penny and you get fanatical collectors who will pay the earth to own specific rare orchids... rather like rich collectors of art... Nice capture .

Such a gorgeous color they have :-) I have only one orchid that will come back every year, but all the others i have got as gifts, never came back. They done even last as long as the one i have had for severel years now.

A rich and gorgeous red cymbidium, a real show stopper! Do you put anything in with the water to help them keep so long when cut?

When I read the title, I thought you might be presenting the newest element for the Periodic Table as element 119 Very lovely flowers

This is gorgeous, Andrea; what I don't know about orchids would fill an encyclopedia! I just managed to get my mini-orchid purchased last Christmas to rebloom. How do you know when it needs to be repotted?

Vivid falls far short of a description of these gorgeous blooms, Andrea. The reds are dynamic. Well composed, digifiddled, and nigh onto an abstract, young lady.

Dark red is great so are green ones, what I want to know is how do you get them to flower.

Just bee-yoo-tiful. Zoom is an absolute must. Your postwork is terrific---and more of your background postwork while leaving the flowers more 'natural'. Love the diagonal composition, the way the flowers fall down the frame. And the hues are so vivid, as are those exploding stamens. (Visually, that is.) Oh, and your background: Muted hues---maybe desaturated---but they're so varied and rich, and your breaking them into flat areas makes them like a big wall painting behind the flowers. Love how you flatten them, remove modeling in many places (as in 3 dimensions). And recognizable things like a light fixture, smaller leaves, a glass, etc, take on a whole new meaning in this postwork. Almost a still life made of postworked bits and pieces. I love this. A real multilayered piece of art.
