Get that bloody Tizzy out of my face! One of the few portraits you've taken where the subject isn't smiling. In fact, he appears to be offended at this invasion of privacy. Other than that, a wonderful pic of what I assume is the bust of an ancient Greek or Roman, Andrea.

Great shot and an interesting place to put him, I like the reflections in the glass window giving us a brief idea of what he looks out upon. And if we view the zoom option we can see a slight reflection of you on the right... seeing as the blind is closed on that side it's not as clear as with the dark interior.

First off, it's a fascinating abstract of face, lines, glass and reflections---with the bulk of the reflected-house present in the center pane (good choice). Love the abstract. Second, ol' David is just GREAT in that space, looking out in his perturbed way; and I wonder, is this really the face you want staring at you as you enter a restaurant??? Maybe it's more inviting in person, but from the shot, I might think twice about eating lunch there. (We had a fantasy---to show you the level of humor we had in those days---of going to Florence and writing at the base of his statue, "LIGHTEN UP, DUUUUDE!" We thought that was a riot, but then we weren't exactly Eddie Izzard...) Love the abstract feel of this and the clarity of the sections. And ol' Dave starin' at hungry passersby is the best. If you're interested, we had a bust of David in our living room when I was a kid. My dog, Pepi, peed on him everytime he walked by---everytime. We tried to train him, but he never stopped. After awhile, the carpet became a mix of carpet and pee, and became hardened---I mean like rock---and you could actually scratch yourself on the carpet, it was so hard. (I guess all those minerals from pee...) Well, one night, I brought a girlfriend in the living room; my parents were gone (and I'd worked MONTHS for this moment), I was maybe 15 and it was one of my first dates. And I gotta tell you, I was cool, I was James Bond that night. Quietly, Pepi walked in, non-chalantly looked at us, walked over to David, lifted his leg and peed for, ohhhhhhhh, 2, 3 minutes. Then he walked out...I couldn't believe it. On a DATE, at age 15. I turned red, my girlfriend---though not for long---said, "Mark? Your dog just peed on that statue!" I said "that's not a statue, that's Michelangelo's DAVID!" I have NO idea why I made that point, except maybe to look "learned": It didn't do s--t, I mean it didn't do squat. She sighed with that tone of, "all you guys are the same!" and she left. I mean it was as if I put Pepi 'up' to that, or was tasteless enough to think it was funny. (It was funny: I'm sorry, it was f--king funny. A dog peeing on Michelangelo's David? On his face??? On those furrowed brows and that sharp nose??? In front of a new girlfriend? At age 15??? That's f--king funny.) I went over to Pepi---true story---and said, "YOU RUINED MY FIRST DATE, YOU CUR!!! THAT WOMAN WAS MARILYN MONROE TO ME!!!!" And Pepi---having no clue who 'Marilyn Monroe' was---walked away. Well, my parents finally recarpeted the living room, and Dad painted David in gold-speckled paint---it was a sight---and put him on the lawn. He was defecated on by birds of every description and eventually tossed away. So when people asked "what got you into art?" I said "David with pee and birds--t all over him." This was my answer for about 4 years. That's my David story, Andrea, that's what I just took up 10 minutes of your time to tell. But I can't see that face and not think of him covered in cheap gold paint and birds--t and dog pee. Btw, I've never seen David in person, but I'm told that he looms above you and is breathtaking---the placement apparently is exquisite. You specialized in Renaissance art, didn't you? In your university years? Well, when you see David in a restaurant window, do you feel "oh, what ends we come to!!!"? Like Hamlet's Yorick: "Y!!! What a mess you've made of your life!" (In essence.) Anyway, I love the shot and the design too. And as a Valentine's Day image it breaks through the treacle. Wonderful slice of life.
