Description

Three Eagles Messengers of Independence Strength Vision Your feathers a sacred symbol Of power, healing, and wisdom. Upon your great wings You teach me to fly With all the freedom of the sky inside the sun-glow of your eyes I see a different view Of all that is possible and new Together we soar Far away from this earth Toward the unknown Together we explore The infinite world Of the Spirit. Three Eagles prose by Carol Cavalaris © Credits: Another in my Dream Catcher Collection, featuring the power and beauty of the Bald, Golden, and Tawny Eagle. Created in Photoshop, using eagle photo references, modified Birds Of Prey feather pack by CWRW, beads by pixels 29, and painting techniques. Special thanks to Ilona and Danob for the use of their wonderful eagle photos. Hope you enjoy. :o) CC Copyright Notice: My images do not belong to the public domain and may not be used for any purpose without my permission. Carol, this is without a doubt the most sensational looking dream catcher I've ever seen. Splendid work on the elegant detailing, and I was especially moved by their eyes.

Amazing how you combine so many elements into a unified whole---the eagles, the feathers (the dream catcher feathers), the medallion (bottom center), the lower feathers (beneath), the turquoise beads, the eagle's feather-headdress (on the head of the left-most eagle), etc...it's all brought close and crowded into a teaming centerpiece, and it's surrounded---for pure balance---with sheer atmosphere, again your undulant background pared down (as in the Savannah piece) to open, sensual areas and cloud-like sweeps. And you have the "four corners" of the Native American universe, in the four hues you assign to each quadrant of your background. The colors are subtle and beautiful, and they meld into each other in three of the quadrants---the top two have a clear "wall" which tells us these are 4 quadrants. And the fact that the four are still made of the same space and light tells us that they are all of the same substance, the same universe, as well as being different from each other. And the dream catcher circle---with those birds of such articulate line and detail---this part would seem extremely painstaking: I mean, even balancing them---because so much detail can detract from the whole---would seem painstaking and draw on your intuition every step of the way. The colors on the eagles feel painted-on in spots (I like that, I love when you do very visceral painterly work), and the colors of the eagles and dream catcher, overall, make a beautiful bouquet. It's splendid, Carol, just splendid. I can see how, after doing these night after night, you'd feel like a wrung-out cloth afterwards, seeking moisture to "fill up" again. And then letting it go into the world, as you say---after working that hard on every detail and all the balances, etc etc? Well, there was a video of someone serving a multi-thousand-dollar cognac to a party. Cognac, as I'm sure you know, is a blend of several brandies, and is meant to be sipped very slowly (after warming to the hand) so one can take-in all the layers as they unfold across the palette. But in this video, one of the people took the bottle and swigged it and said, "nice!" and went back to talking. Lol---I drink very little cognac, but knowing some who do, I thought, why didn't the owner of the cognac pass-out from shock??? I'm sure your buyers are a lot more sensitive than that; but still, I'm sure some buyers look, and say, "niiiiiiiiice!" and walk away. And you hope that they have deeper responses than that, as they live with the work over time. And then, when people DO have those responses, you may never be there to see it. So you send your labor of love into the world, and you leave it to the gods to be sure your multi-layered jewel will be sipped slowly by someone, and hopefully many someones, over time. At least your art won't disappear the way a cognac will: But that's the strange journey of a deep work of art. You just don't know who will savor its many levels. But in time hopefully many will. Whether they verbalize it or not, they will. That kind of inner spirit will reach people. We just don't know when or who... (Carol I'll have to stop for now. I was with these 5 images a full hour and a half---with a break for a cable guy ((nice juxtaposition, huh?)) and I have to go now. I'll come back. But at least you know I lingered here, and savored your work and all its levels. Beautiful soulful work as always. Amazingly complex and layered, real treasures. And now I'm about to upload a few photos before I leave, and I think: Man, after walking through these pieces, I can't upload those photos! My little wine tastes after these majestic cognacs? Ah well. Beautiful work as always, Carol.)

I never really know if my art will be savored like cognac or sipped like soda. All I can do is put everything I am feeling into a work and then release it, like a child, letting the world have its way with it. Every creation truly has a life of its own and I enjoy experiencing the adventure. It is always interesting, and never what I think it will be and that's a good thing, because it is out of my control. I have had the great joy of moving some people with my work in positive and profound ways, and that is a gift I treasure and what keeps me inspired to do more. Can't really express how much your support means to me, Mark. All I can say is a grateful thank you. I wish you a safe journey and look forward to your return.
