Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Why am I not surprised :o) I was having lunch at our garden centre, just up road from me, the meals are so scrummy, all made on the premises.

Nice abstract here

The weather has been hideous but the captures here are first class, hope you enjoyed the meal, I would give the al fresco rainforest style a miss until at least June. Love the abstract with the limited palette which works well in those post work.

Dramatic forms in the wet slabs! Well spotted a striking abstract! I hope you got plenty of supplies, I never get enough seed compost! Or maybe I sow too many seeds?

Total transformation of the flickr shot: You turned the 'filters' of water-against-glass, and all the bled hues of the furniture (as seen through rain) into a pic of dissecting lines, all kinds of colonies growing in the sections in-between, some really gritty amoeba areas (with all the intense blobs cramped together, like amoeba colonies, or the mitochondria in cells), those edge waves---ugh, language is so HARD with abstracts!---I mean those little 'edge-growths' you have next to the dark straight lines: like the detritus that forms around edges of mullions on windows. ("Edge colonies"---better?) The tonal scheme is, as always, very sensitive, with some beautiful light green-blues in the more open spaces, surrounded by near white outlines. Cartographic, topographic and microscopic all at once; and, like Helle, you take everyday images and dive into them and wrest out whole micro and macro continents, and they're so rich and endlessly fascinating! And you achieved a balance between darker and lighter too. Terrific.
