Description

The current winter for the Northeast US has been almost unprecedented in terms of the unrelenting arctic cold and abundant snowfall. We have just finished up with yet another crippling storm, dumping over a foot of the delightful white stuff along much of the Eastern Seaboard. For this snow lover, the inspiration for snow scenes abounds. Down the block from my house in NYC is lovely Oakland Pond, depicted in this render. As I live in one of the outer boroughs, such a dramatic contrast between the bucolic foreground setting and the massive, soaring, background skyscrapers is entirely unrealistic. So, a thousand pardons for the seemingly inescapable tendency to stray from realistic portrayals. At any rate, as always, all models are either Bryce5 or Wings3d originals save for the skyscraper backdrop which is a 2d picture object of the NYC skyline. Post work in PSP8. Thanks for lookin’!

Beautiful scene and excellent lighting. The reflections in the ice look very cool. At this point, this is about the only way I want to see snow for a while. I'm just glad I don't live in Boston or Maine, they're really getting slammed tonight and over night with 60 mph wind gusts.

Fantastic. Very well done indeed. Those storms you keep having keep crossing the atlantic and dumping endless rain on us in the UK. Record breaking amounts have been seen. One part of the country has been several feet underwater since before christmas.
