Description

Katydids sometimes called bush-crickets are very common in south Florida. They are also known as long horned grasshoppers, although they are more closely related to crickets. They can grow as large as 4.7 inches (12cm) long and range in color from green to brown. You can see that they have strong hind legs and are very good jumpers. They can also fly short distances and this one landed about 18 feet (5.4864 meters) off the ground. They eat mostly grass and new plant growth. Info from Wikipedia. We will be on a Caribbean cruise from February 16th to February 23rd and I will try to catch up on commenting when we get back. No phone, no laptop but my camera gets to come along. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana
