I've been here 90 minutes, and I have to go now, unfortunately, but this is only part 1: I'll be back in the next day or two to do more. But I'll end with this because it brought out strong responses when I saw it yesterday. First, it's got your intensity, your way of finding energies deep within an image. And then, it has depth, as the trees and branches go back in space, in many layers. But you've also treated the details with a certain equanimity---as you did in that beautiful bakery facade---so that the depth is matched by an almost flush-forward flatness, as if we're viewing an etching or lithograph. The play between 3 dimensions and 2 dimensions is very exciting, and gives the work electricity. I see that scientific eye that I've spoken of---analytic, studious, reverent of detail without interfering with it---but also your poetry---as the lights and energies make it dance and sing. Your gallery is filled with these qualities playing back and forth with each other, and it makes pieces like these pulse. Marvelous commitment, energy, and inner eye here, I'll be back for more soon. A real pleasure.
