Description
Went for a short hike today (one mile loop trail) in the hills above Jacksonville & took a bunch of photos, mostly close ups of patterns in trees & leaves. This one is from the base of a madrone tree. Madrone trees have beautiful bark that changes greatly over time, with many colors & varied patterns...

another of your metropolitan areas of nature shots: a marvelous closeup of eddies and flows, bulges, islands, mounds, moss forests and the like. It could be an aerial view of a highly varied landscape. And the jutting of that "peninsula" into all that moss (the big central thing with those yellow 'mounds' on it) looks like a volcanic land-mass jutting into a deep forest. Wonderful seeing, with your usual sensitive and electric postwork.
