Description

Well, parent, anyhow. But they have no interest in the eggs, only in the act of spawning. At present I have more toads in evidence than frogs, but more frogspawn than toadspawn. Maybe the toads have been so blinded by lust that their interspecies goings on will result in a fall in the population.

GOSH, Andrea. I just adore this shot. It could be perfect for a ...painting. Sigh. If just I could pull myself together for such.

Great capture.. nice reflections off the water too. Before you know it loads of tadpoles and then loads of baby frogs in and around the pond. Years ago I remember as a kid fishing a pond and there were masses of baby frogs coming out the water, there was so many you could hardly see the bank.. that was way back in the early 70's.

How do you tell the difference between frog and toad eggs? I agree that this should be enlarged and framed and hung on a wall ..

oh boy, full size this thing is beautiful! I appreciate what you wrote about the spawning and the beautiful creature. But when I zoomed, eeeeyow! Beautiful light, almost ceramic in quality; the eggs make an almost glass sculpture; the quality of the water's surface is like a mixture of cream and pure glass; the life underwater is beautifully present even in the murkier sections; and the frog's face is like sheer glass, in spots. Just beautiful. You have so much art coursing through you, you make shots like these into visual symphonies. Wonderful shot. Love it! (Rita wrote: "How do you tell the difference between frog and toad eggs?" Lol---that sounds like the beginning of a joke! "Oh, I don't know: How DO you tell the difference between frog and toad eggs?" "Because the frog's are----((fill in the blank))." I love her comments, btw ((and her art)), but I didn't know she'd worked the Vaudeville circuit! Also, Helle said she'd like to paint this: If she did, I'd love to see the results!)

WOW!!! That was fast - you will be over run with frogs very soon. Maybe a Heron will come along and reduce the population explosion!
