Description

Lan Ying was a writer who specialized in steamy, historical romance novels. A brilliant and prolific writer, she was sorely lacking in domestic skills so she hired the neighbor's daughter, Renata, to keep the house (and herself) from falling into ruin. Renata kept the house from being condemned by the health department, cooked meals and made sure Lan Ying ate them, and (once the big jobs were done) acted as research assistant. Renata loved the job because she was her own boss for the most part and it gave her the time and money to continue her art studies at the local college. Maybe one day she would illustrate the covers of Lan Ying's books. Goofing around got WAY out of hand. I'm not happy with the lighting but I never am. The Woodstock Texture for the California skirt was made by Nirvy and purchased here but no longer listed. Very nice scene if anything, the lighting seems to be a touch too bright in the room, other than that - excellent work

Superb image and characters love the story also. You sound very much like me with lighting, I have in my mind how I want the lighting to look but getting it to render that way is another thing, looks right before rendering but then the render is to bright or to dull..grr lol.

Good scene and great story. Send me a site mail note if you would like some lighting suggestions. For one, the back wall is very bright. You could go into the material room and decrease the diffuse vale by 0.2 or so.

You come up with such good stories. I think this scene came out pretty well actually. I like the lighting except that because it has the look of sunshine streaming through a big window, I think it needs to have some shadows. See if you can check cast shadows in the properties.

I don't understand why you would be dissatisfied with the lighting. It looks fine to me - but then again what do I know? Love the details you are putting into your images and once again love the "everyday" feel of the images.

Actually, I think the lighting here is very well done, Terri! You've really done an excellent job with both the artwork and the backstory to go along with it. Very well done! Syltermermaid's characters are excellent - I'm amazed they're freebies. I have Renata wandering around in my runtimes somewhere, I think...

Could be the start of a nice little series, wonderful image! One thing, can't have light without shadow! but you already know that from the beach scene you worked so hard to get the shadows the way you wanted them!

It sounds like the draft outline to a novel. Run with it. And as for lighting. If I can see it, lighting is fine.

I think the lighting looks ok. I think it's down to personal preference. To my mind, you have thrown a shadow around where it really matters and that is at floor level. Other than that, I LOVE the pose. Your choice of material is terrific. Altogether, Excellent! Well done Terri!

Great image and backstory. Lighting looks ok to me, maybe a little bright like others have said but it's all subjective. If you're at the point where the lighting doesn't look the way you want but you aren't sure what more to tweak in Poser, try taking it into Photoshop (or your postwork application of choice) and playing with the exposure and color levels. Sometimes that can have better results than re-rendering, and is quicker!
