Description

In flower at the moment in the studio. I repotted these orchids last week and then fell for another 2 at the garden centre yesterday!

A beautiful flower and a fine capture, there are so many species of orchid and some of the rare varieties can be priceless.. A few that only appear in some remote parts of the world that people machete through to get at... those who are obsessed would move heaven and earth to own them and the trade can have a murky underground aspect to it.

full size this is not only sensuous but almost speckled, caused by the multi-layered reflective surfaces on the petals. You caught that very delicately here, it's beautiful. The stamen section stands out in contrast, partly because of the light on the petals (high light), but also because of your composition and the shadow-play on it. It's beautiful. This is a sensual, beautiful flower capture Andrea. And your choice of stark black around it makes this beauty feel like it's on-portrait for us. Beautiful work all around. A genuine portrait.
