This is such a fascinating and surprising collection of hues and "feels"---I think it takes a lot of experience with painting before one can mix all these elements with ease. You have greens---in some cases, yellow greens (bright and warm, almost olive in spots)---and they sit alongside any number of purples. Complementary and near-complementary colors, normally making strong contrasts. But there's something gentle-enough about this that they whisper to each other rather than shout. The general composition is a big wreath-like center, with a lot of open space in each side, and filled with what almost looks like a fine art paper (or end paper). The bow is mingled with a lined-fabric (almost like corduroy), which I assume are the slippers. I like the contrast there too. And light purple tassels coming down into the green, with a big opulent purple flower as a "crown": I don't know, but how you came up with such unusual combinations I don't know, but this feels wholly intuitive, and it flows together beautifully. Then your surrounding is more paper-like design---wallpaper, or designs from the late 19th C.---with simple line-florals, and even that old technique of straight lines for 'shading'. A real contrast to the full-bodied flowers around and inside the center. A real mix of elements which still are whole; and the "paper" sense---ie, that it's designed on paper, laying on paper, placed on 'top' of paper---gives it a print-like fee,l behind all the 3 dimensional opulence. And the cat, done with your usual articulate detail, walks into this innocently, exploring it just as we are. Its presence is gentle and belonging. Also, it has swirls in its chest that feel like a unifying vortex. Sensual and complex, most unexpected, and unified. As I say, it feels like it came from a very intuitive place. (I would never have felt confident combining these hues and elements.) Beautifully done as always...

Appreciate your wonderful comment, Mark. I had fun playing with colors and textures and you are right, the creation was an intuitive journey, trying to make it all come together as I worked.
