The birds are gorgeous on their own but then you have to use your amazing talent to create this amazing piece... It's nice to see a friendly face now that I am back :)

Carol, I'll be here in a few sessions today, as there are interruptions. But if I leave, I'll come back. You've painted the lorikeets with such clarity, and given such fidelity to their eye-popping saturated hues, you've given them the best presentation they could receive. The detail in their feathers---down to the individual (here goes) vanes, barbs, barbules, etc, is beautifully articulate. (Yeah, I studied these things when I learned how to draw birds. I also studied bird-songs, but now I remember only a few terms, and a few songs...) Point is, you've articulated the feathers down to the most finite details, and it gives the saturated hues real articulation and music. It gives the multiple 'rhythms' that pulse inside each band of color. (Looks very painstaking!) And of course, your design-sense guides you to make a beautiful design of them, with a large 'waterfall' of branches, flowers and birds on each side, arranged almost in an Oriental fashion. Like they're flowing down a mountainside...And then, even though the flowers don't have all the colors of the birds, you gave great range to them: The bluer flowers are just beautiful in their morphs from darker to lighter, in the luminous greens in the stamen areas, in the reddish/yellow flowers, and in some atumnal yellowish brown flowers too: There's your undulating sensual way again, making even a background flower pulse and flow. Then, your detail on the tiny leaves and branches that flow between the flowers is articulate and delicate. And then your blending of branches, leaves, etc, into a deep green background with hints of waterfalls and such, takes the image into real depths. And the rainbow---the optical rainbow, now---flows between them like a sacred stream. Real detail mixed with sensual blends and spirit; a big panoply of opulent hues and forms. A beautiful piece, and it looks like it involved painstaking work, and that it would be splendid full size (I mean beyond the full size on RR). Really beautiful, Carol. (Btw, if you didn't know---and are even remotely interested---the scientific name for these birds is "Trichoglossus Haematodus". You gotta admit, "Trichoglossus Haematodus in Paradise" could leave your viewers a bit tired-out...)

Trichoglossus Haematodus in Paradise doesn't quite have the same romantic flair, does it? :o) Thanks so much for your wonderfully colorful and delightful comment, Mark. You always amaze me with your observations. I've always been very fascinated with tropical birds and perhaps that's why I wanted to emphasize their striking color and detail, as well as their individual personalities. So glad you enjoyed this artwork and very much appreciate your wonderful comment.
