My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

I like the graphic postwork you used here - it fits the subject well. I've been to Galveston once (quite a few years ago) & don't remember seeing houses on stilts, so it must be a more recent development (or my memory is faulty, which is also possible). I do remember eating at Joe's Crab Shack there & enjoying it greatly. I even bought one of their t-shirts & still wear it - the front has a big peace sign on it & the back says "Peace, Love & Crabs"...

Delicately processed - well done!

Great looking places but they still look a bit flimsey to me. Nice shot.

I love how they are each a different color.

Excellent shooting my dear!

It makes for a fascinating capture, those all-alike little stilt houses. I saw this in Southern Virginia/North Carolina, lots of vacation homes on stilts; and then after the storms we'd see pieces of them broken off and lying in sand drifts down the beach.

Property just waiting to be washed away.

Very cool shot and presentation, Tara! I love the repeating motif of the houses, and the variations of color. Fascinating structures - I don't think I'd enjoy riding out a hurricane in one of those, though.... Foolhardy is right! :-D

Built high for the incoming storm surge...... Some of the newer house being built near the beaches in Hawaii are being built high like these... Nice shot. Aloha

Awesome shot....

Looks like home to me!!! The path down to the water leads to the docks where the school boat picks you up and takes you across the channel. Ah, I miss the smell of the ocean.

Little getaways for five families from Houston? Love the composition and the colors.

Galveston is one of the few places in Texas I've seen. It's so unique. I love these cottages, even if they're like the the straw houses of the 3 pigs, able to be blown down with a tiny breath!

those houses will get washed away also. mother nature can and will do her thing. lovely shot of them

What happened to the second house from the left (the one that isn't there...)? Crazy, but it has a subtle beauty. Lovely post work.
