Description

back when they were meant for off road use. I have heard that this style is still sold in other parts of the world but not in the US because of the gas tank being under the passenger seat. I do not know if this one had it's tank relocated

I had a 1977 Toyota Landcruiser. Loved it. And yes the gas tank was under the passenger seat. Mechanically it was tough as nails but prone to excessive body rust. The 6 cylinder engine was based on the Chevy Blue Flame 6 as Toyota bought the blueprints for the engine from GM. The Blue Flame 6 cylinder was used in the very early Corvettes (1953 to 1955).... Cheers Ken

My late friend had one, red it was. He used it to pull a rig (18-wheeler tractor) from a muddy spot where it got stuck - it took him an hour in as he called it, 'Super Low' to pull the rig out and the heads were white hot A most impressive vehicle

You used to see a lot of these on the road here in Australia, not so many any more because of the body rust issues.
