My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Terrific! it is also somehow a hopeful, cup-half-full sort of image: how different it would be if it said 'CLOSE'.

An abstract, as you say, but also a portrait in metal parts. Your crop brings out the two wheels/gears: Ie, the one in front and the one in back. And they cross each other, direction-wise. And the textures and decay on the front wheel are wonderful; and so nice that they're in such focus while the background is not. And the light in the background is almost more intense than the light in foreground: A very nice counterpoint, because it draws the background forward, while we, by nature, "push it back" (in our minds). A simple capture with several layers in it; and, for all the criss-crosses, it's very peaceful. I've said 'peaceful' several times, now: I see it in your decayed textures, in your old open spaces, in your arid shots, and others...you'll capture a sense of openness and peace. I can't fully explain it, but it's there. You find the 'quiet' in these spaces, and bring it to light for us. Beautifully done. Tara, I am having problems with this server---2d time in a few weeks---so I'm going to come back here a second time. I want to see if I can do a few comments elsewhere while I still have a signal; and if it works after that, I'll go to Bill's gallery. If not, I'll get to his, the next session. (I don't want to start in Bill's gallery just to watch the signal leave. I want a concentrated session there, just as I had here.) It's always special to comment here, and not just look: I get a deeper feel for all your styles and loves. I love what I sat with today. I'll be back again soon...

The details are a devil... but you have a way of capturing them, taming them, a giving them a life of their own. I'm heading outside, through the open hatch.
