Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Heavy duty.... the things we tend to ignore that take on a whole new perspective close up. Fine capture.

It has to make you feel very safe with the way this is secured! I was going to say something funny: How small is your Metro in order to move through these tubes?

I love that idea! Food for thought and maybe doodling.

The 4mm wide gives this a wholly weird perspective. I love it!

They're called "big pipey things with all kinds of joints and bolts". (That's the engineering term.) I love the composition: Dramatic, the angle positively sweeps, the pipes---however big or small they are---could just as well be huge pipelines for oil transport. The lineup of vertical pipes are terrific---esp with the cutoff on top (love the cropping). And the tone is a kind of juandiced yellow, like it's been sitting in the desert a long time. (Did I just write "juandiced"---as in "full of Juan?" That's supposed to be JAUN-diced---as in "full of JAUN". I have no idea what that means...) All that shadow at top and bottom---this is a big fist of a shot, and these pipes never had it so good. Love this shot, Andrea. It's a fist in the face. Love it!
