Description

Ferns growing on a tree trunk again. I took both of these yesterday on a hike on the Limpy Creek Botanical Trail, which is a located a few miles out of Grants Pass...

Nice shooting. You have captured textbook quality detail and the shallow depth of field plays out well. The colors are gorgeous. But actually these guys are mosses, probably in the genus Kindbergia or closely related.

So different from the last one---partly because the mossy ferns (I see they're mosses, above, so I'll call them mosses!!!) seem larger and more separated. Also because you have more darker mosses---maybe from lack of direct light? And the spacing is more open. It's just a different sight, and it's beautiful. You got lots of sharp detail here, and lots of the different 'flows' (the music of the mosses), and lots of shadow and highlights. It looks, in your capture, like a very hairy outer garment, very warm and maybe a little itchy. (forgive my anthropomorphizing, lol, but I can't help it.) And the biggest background tree just slants right along with the main trunk. Another of your fine and scintillating captures of the opulence of nature, with sensitivity to composition and harmony between the elements of the picture... Claud,e I will comment on your other gallery soon. That other gallery is calling...I don't know what words I'll find, but that place is calling out like a treasure trove just around the corner...
