Description

Taken at 7:45 AM a few weeks ago at Lake Abraham in the Alberta front ranges. Temperature was -10C or 14 F but wind was gusting to 30 km/hr. Way colder than it looks. Stayed a week at an ecolodge that was solar powered, off the grid, no internet, limited phone. Priceless at $130 per night with all food AND beer and wine included. Pro and serious amateur photographers come from all over the world to photograph this unique lake with its wierd bubbles and ice cracks. I was in blessed company. Have not been around much lately, so sorry for sparse comments. Been travelling and also got a promotion at the beginning of the year to section head which means I now have to manage a bunch of yahoos that used to be my colleagues and also puts me on par with a bunch of adversaries. Life has been busy, except for when I am travelling, which is blessely pretty regular. More later as this series progresses. P.S. That's a Limber Pine in the foreground.

This is a very cool capture Roxy! I do hope that you'll still have time to do more with Ishtar and her crew. I love your photos and narratives as well as your beautiful renders and stories. Take care and congratulations on your promotion.

Sounds brutally cold with that wind chill factor. I very much like this painterly, expressionistic view of what looks like a unique location. And good luck with your new professional opportunity & challenge...

This is freakin' spectacular, Roxy! Wow! Man, that sounds like a wonderful place to refresh and renew... and get some great photos. Well, congrats on the promotion (I think) - I sure hope the compensation is commensurate with the added aggravation it entails. I'm finally out of that 3-shi(f)t hellhole, and back in the field again. I'm loving it, but a lot has changed in 3 1/2 years. I think our present management team is comprised of three guys named Moe, Larry, and Curley.

"Ice to See You!" ;) Great shot and beautiful colors. A great shot well worth enduring the cold for a bit. Sounds like a freaking great place to be for a few days. I would definitely drink my share of the beer :) And to be off the grid for a bit would be awesome. I can live without the computer for a week or so. Pencils and paper are great :) Funny how promotions aren't always what we expect. I guess the world is full of yahoos and adversaries. Hopefully better pay and a better job makes it worth it.
