Description
Venice. The Frari’s Basilica. Counter-facade. At the centre, above the doorway, there is a magnificent Baroque monument dedicated to the senator Girolamo Garzoni who died in 1688 in the siege of Negroponte. At the base of the high pyramid is the coat of arms of the Veneto nobleman between two angels, capped by a helmet, there is also an attic on which is situated a pedestal with the statue of Garzoni being crowned by an angel. Underneath the attic there is a decorative arch with a statue on either side, representing Religion and Venice.
