Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

EXCELLENT SHOT!

You have been able to catch the sunlight on the water and that adds a little extra to this fine shot.

Outstanding detail, atmosphere and color in this pic of the Bourne Stream and environs, Andrea. The water does look polluted with something or other at the bottom of the image.

Wonderful light and reflections on the water. A beautiful image.

This is a beautiful place. What a shame about the pollution. Are there no government regulations that require the factory to contain its own runoff.?

I love that you can see the pebbles on the bottom so clearly; this light has a misty quality that's quite appealing. Beautiful capture!

It is a very special photo, Andrea. The perspective, the fallen tree , the branches crossing in the left side, all the geometric lines along the image and the reflections in the water, yet, you captured the sunlight along the stream...makes your image extremely misterious!Stlelar! Much to see here.

Lovely little stream this.

I like both versions and all that soggy land seems to not be supporting the trees very well!

Both shots are beautiful, and this one is a closer, more intimate view. (The flickr version has a beautiful sinewy feel to it.) Both this and Tara's shot are wonderful, and I don't know if you can get that southern Louisiana light in anything as far north as where you live---or in any other such locale in the world. (I've been there, and that place has a light unlike any other place I've been.) Anyway, this is composed so nicely, it flows back with such light. And the tree branches falling over the back part of the water are like natural bridges. Because of the shallower water, we can see what's inside it, and that, along with reflections and light, make it speckled as if with gold. And the rest is just big confluences of branches and trees, making a jungle around the water. It's gentle and very active and has real beauty. And that "V" made by the center tree centers the shot dead-on. Fine sensitive seeing.
