Description

(continued from previous post) This is the un-postworked version. All I did to this one was reduce it from it's original size to 1200x900 & use Photoshop to create a compressed jpeg that would fit into the 500kb Renderosity limit. Even with no postwork at all, the colors have changed from the original version to the more compressed version. It's hard for me to imagine that anyone would consider this (based purely on visual (not ideological) criteria) to be the best of the three versions, but who knows? Please zoom.

Yep, the other one that was post-worked is a much superior image!!

I have to agree with the above but it's still a very nice image.

This version definitely needs some adjustments which you did in the original post. Not sure how you achieve the IR effect but the color shifts and high contrast makes that image very interesting. Great comparison!

I also thank you for the comparative shots. I really love the water in this one, but the postwork version is much more striking.

By the way, my latest posting is totally a postwork image incorporating images of my grandson from six different photos and removing eight other people from the picture.

I've been looking at all three, going back and forth, and this is what I'm absolutely sure of: this photograph, just the basic photograph, is excellent. Composition, interest, and the difference between filled and unfilled space makes this an image that has "good bones." With an image like this, nothing NEEDS to be "saved." It's outstanding just the way it is. My experience with a picture like this is that there's nothing you can do to seriously frack it up. Whatever you do to it, you'll still have an excellent picture. That being said, I would tweak the poo out of this because, like you, I find it to be bland, color-wise.

I have to and hate to admit it, but this image is just okay. I'd be doing what I can to get the colours a bit bolder. I do like how you did yours

Yep, I agree, it's a good shot but not striking until you tune up the contrast and vibrancy.

It is a beautiful view Claude but it looks faded in comparison to yesterday's post!
