Description

Captured 3/7/14, in front of a laundromat parking lot somewhere in the neighborhood. From what I've seen over the years, the locks and chain are never used and just sit there, rusting away. Toodles.

great PoV and textures, like the visual balance you have achieved with the shapes and colours

Oh Zoom is a must! This is one of your most scintillating padlock shots ever! Love the texture of that wall---and two-toned to boot! Minimalism at its best. And the divide runs perfectly with the grayer lock, and boy that shaft---and all your detail, incl the chain? Love it. Your eye was electrified for this one. 20 stars! Love it! Whoosh!

To avoid any confusion, what appears to be a two tone wall is actually the ground, with the asphalt parking lot to the left and a sidewalk to the right.

Fantastic composition, Harry; the diagonal thrust of the post pulls our eyes up those various rusty and not-rusty chains to deposit us with pride at those abandoned padlocks. Wonder what they used to lock? Wonder if anyone remembers? And how long will they stay there unnoticed (except by you)? Great details and focus, fine work indeed!

The chain(s) were originally used to block off the entrance to the parking lot at night to prevent any traffic from going in and out. The chain connects to another post across the entrance. Anyway, it's been eons since it was used in that capacity.
