Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Very atmospheric.

In zoom, we see the textures you applied, and it looks like an image on a silk screen. (I mean the transparent kind, not "silk-screening" per se.) Your postwork really renders this an oriental vision, and the foreground leaves are partly flattened into design elements. An evocative and beautiful rendering of the sight, where the trunks and branches feel almost like microscopic veins, yet they're still like the organic forms on a Japanese screen. Very evocative treatment, Andrea, I think it's beautiful.

I love what you did with this. The original was good, but when you sharpened the foreground it really gave focus to the misty tree.

Wow, I love the lines of the branches, large to small; it's eerie and very Japanese in feeling...really stunning!

It took me a few seconds to realize the postwork you had done - subtle and cool

Lovely shot!

The foreground adds depth to this digifiddled pic of the gauzy and evocative oak tree, with its limbs and branches reaching out into the fog, A. Actually, a spooky image in all. I wouldn't be surprised to see Humphrey Bogart in his hat and trench coat emerging from it.

Oh, great atmosphere! I can hear the hounds at Baskerville Hall. Can Holmes be far behind? Lovely, subtle post work.

Very interesting image, only hint this is near homes is the telephone cable, I presume that's what it is?.. I like the way you have captured the tree in this piece which is very haunting.

I like 'em both. Fog is such a tough subject, and you've done a great job with it!
